Roberto Stemmet is the Director of Youth Impact Sustainable Solutions (YISS), a powerful and life-changing community initiative based in Hanover Park, Cape Town. YISS is a registered non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering disadvantaged youth through holistic, hands-on training in various hospitality disciplines and life skills.

YISS was established in response to the harsh realities facing youth in Hanover Park and surrounding communities—where 70% of young people face unemployment, drug abuse, crime, gang activity, teenage pregnancy, school dropout, and a profound sense of hopelessness. Many feel forced into harmful paths due to poverty and lack of opportunity. YISS offers a meaningful alternative: hope, structure, and a future worth striving for.

Under Roberto’s leadership, YISS provides constructive and practical alternatives to crime-ridden environments, helping young people build crime-free, responsible, and purpose-driven lives. With years of deep-rooted experience in these high-risk areas, Roberto and his team have developed a proven, sustainable impact model that addresses the needs of at-risk youth head-on.

At the heart of Roberto’s mission lies a clear and powerful vision: to help young people believe that crime is not the only way to survive on the Cape Flats—and that with the right tools, support, and community, they can build a future filled with dignity, opportunity, and hope.
