Goal50 ECD Centre
Early Childhood Development Centre | Heideveld
Goal50 ECD Centre is project undertaken by GCU and currently under-development. The facility will provide 100 children from the community of Heideveld with high-quality early childhood development.
Phase 1 of 3 is now complete. Funds put into the project at this point will go towards phase 2 of the building project. The facility is being built with tyres collected from waste depots, film sets that have been crushed into bricks, and eco-bricks (plastic bottles filled with non-recyclable plastics), meeting all regulations for health and safety.
The contractors are the Natural Building Collective who have employed men from the local community, to build this ECD. The result: creating long-lasting jobs, imparting knowledge and skills, and creating opportunities for growth for the people who need it most.
Institutions like Goal50 are shifting the reality within challenged communities, by bringing resources and opportunities to help people thrive. It is an example of the values practiced at the Heart of Cape Town. i.e. Love for People & Love for Planet.
